You better be careful, Sarah. One day, you might actually turn into a real girl.

It’s not the most normal life in the world, but I screw up plenty of times to be a normal teenager.

I think everyone’s dream is to be an actress, but I never really thought it was going to happen. Now that it’s happening, it’s incredible. I do a lot of other things, too. I’m not stuck in this little world. I’m aware that we’re in the middle of an economic crisis in the U.S. There’s a lot going on in the world, and I’m really happy and excited about what I have and I don’t take it for granted. I’m pretty lucky.

I was born and grew up in Russia. After the Holocaust [in Russia] you were not allowed to be religious. So my parents raised me to know I was Jewish. You know who you are inside. You don’t need to tell the whole world. You believe what you believe, and that’s what’s important. And that’s how I was raised. (…) My parents raised me Jewish as much as they could and they came to America. I love my religion. I think it’s a beautiful religion, but I took parts of it that I want for myself. I don’t need to go to temple. I will, but I don’t need to.

(on how she started acting) I had to act in a school play when I was about ten years old. I really didn’t want to do it. But everyone had to do it so I didn’t have a choice. A talent agent came and watched it and later gave me some work. It’s funny because I’d always known that I wanted a movie career. I just didn’t think that I would be in the movies.
